Ans: In this poem the poet appreciates nature. The phrase “blended notes” of nature might be the rhythmic and pleasant sounds produced by nature such as whistle of the wind, birds chirping, insects buzz, sound of water flowing in the streams etc.

Ans: The poet laments at the condition of man because while he was in the sweet mood created by nature also brought him a sad sense of man’s present condition. He wonders what man have done to man. Instead of enjoying times with nature,man involves in seeking earthly pleasures and harms each other.

3. In your own words describe the aspects of nature presented in the third, fourth, and fifth stanzas.

Ans: There are a lot of natural aspects that the poet presented in the poem. In the third stanza he talks about a green bower with primrose tufts, wreths of periwinkle, blooming flowers and fresh air. In the fourth stanza he talks about playing birds and their motion. In the fifth stanza he says about budding twigs and breezy air.

4. From your reading of the poem what do you understand by “Nature’s holy plan” ?

Ans: The poet is mesmerised by the beauty of nature and its objects. He sees beautiful primrose flowers. The speaker observes the birds which sing and hop around him; he is in awe of these creatures. Though the speaker does not understand their language and ways, he does recognize that the birds’ are creating all these movements out of sheer pleasure and joy. The breeze flowing is sweet and light, the twigs are spreading out as if to catch the sweet air and all the speaker can do is gather pleasure in their existence. These things he considers as ‘Nature’s holy plan”.While enjoying the nature he also gets involved with the sorrowful thought that instead of appreciating the nature man are engaged in cruelty and war.

Ans: The poet observes various natural objects when he looks around him.First he hears sweet voices of nature.Then he sees blooming primroses and wreth of periwinkles,pretty blooming flowers and fresh air. He also notices playing and chirping birds thoigh he could not understand their language.He sees twigs budding widely spread and feels refreshing breezes.
