The Golden Temple was named after the outer layer of gold leaf which covers the entire temple. After the death of Guru Gobind Singh, the Gurudwara was constantly attacked and destroyed by Islamic rulers. In 1762, this religious heritage was completely blown away by gunpowder. Language: English
