May-Dam-Me-Fi

Me-Dam-Me-Phi is the worship of the ancestors of the Ahoms. This puja established disembodied contact with the ancestors and sought blessings for the welfare of their society and the country. Every year, the Ahoms gather together to build an octagonal temporary ha-fi ( temple) and perform eight mehengas (Sarai) and worship their original father Leng-dan. In addition to praying to God, the Ahom flag was hoisted by the ngi Dam or Kham. This is the first time in Assam that this puja was celebrated at the Budha Darsan Thana of Tipam. In addition to the publicly organized Me-Dam-Me-Phi, the Ahom also celebrate this puja at home. There is a rule in the Ahom language for this puja, known as Khek-lai. In 1228 AD, the arrival of Chao Lung Chukapha arrived in Assam with the arrival of Chao Lung Chukapha.
