According to Apollodorus, Callisto was the daughter of Lycaon, king of Arcadia. She had sworn to remain a virgin because she was a devout follower of the Greek goddess Artemis. To get her, Zeus took the form of Artemis or Apollo and, after earning Callisto’s trust, raped her. Language: English
