a) Why was Seema upset?

Ans: Seema was upset by the information that her salary for this month will be late.

b) What did Swati suggest to her mother?

Ans: Swati suggested her mother that they could try the NGO for some help who had visited their school.

c) What happened when Seema met the lady at the office of the NGO?

Ans: When Seema met the lady of the NGO, she talked about her hopes of setting up a small business. Then the lady showed her the women who were working there in blue sarees and aprons and had Brave Mothers embossed on their dress. The lady also explained to Seema that their NGO was a self help group.

d) What did the women of Brave Mothers do?

Ans: The women of Brave Mothers take vocational training in a variety of fields like toy making, embroidery, tailoring, culinary arts, mobile repairing etc and later given load to start their own business.

e) What was Seema interested in doing?

Ans: Seema was interested in doing culinary arts

f) How did the NGO help Seema?

Ans: The NGO helped Seema by giving the hope of providing loan with which she can set up her own business and all the problems of her life will be solved.

 I think this way because Swati was concerned about her mother's problem and tried to console her by showing the solution of the problem. Swati was a mature girl who knows how to take responsibility of her mother.

C) What are the good qualities do you have that match with Swati’s?

Ans: (i) I love my parents like Swati do.

(ii) I take care of my parents as Swati.

(iii) I ask my parents whenever they are upset like Swati does.

  1. In the lesson, Swati tells her mother that she would call up the NGO ‘Brave Mothers’. She would seek help from the representative from the NGO who had visited her school to create awareness on “Entrepreneurship Development and Self Reliance”.

Now work in pairs. Imagine one of you is Swati’s mother and the other is the lady from Brave mothers. Write a telephonic conversation between Swati’s mother and the lady. Note down the conversation and enact it before the class.

Swati’s mother : Ma’am my name is Seema. I have heard about your organization from my daughter, as you have visited there. I would like to let you know that I am thinking of setting up my own business and I would be grateful if your NGO can help me with it.
