Ans:  In Egypt, Ishan saw the wonderful Sphinx. There the Sphinx introduced him to the ancient civilisation of Egypt. By this practical experience, Ishan was deeply impressed. His childlike curiosity grew as he saw the magnificent pyramids. He was also amazed to know the way of mummification. He knows history tells us about the past. What he lately saw are the living symbols of history. I think driven by his curiosity he tells his mother that he likes history.

Ans:  I shall never forget my experience of getting scared after seeing the underworld in Purana Killa (old castle) at Dum Dum. One day while coming back home from school, I was attracted to see the huge door of it. As I touched the door, it cracked open and strange sounds invited me inside. I got attracted to a swing which was pyramidical in shape. It was hanging from the ceiling of a grand hall. There were so many colourful birds and monkeys that I had never seen before. What attracted me is a Sphinx- like statue. I got scared because of strange sights and sounds of the place. It was the most scary day of my life.

Ans: The Nile is the longest river of the world. It flows throughout the continent of Africa. The river is 6,650 kilometres in its length. It has touched all the important and popular cities and towns of Africa as it flows into the Mediterranean sea. The river provided food, water, transportation and excellent soil to the ancient Egyptians. Great cities that are situated on the banks or close to the river mouth are Cairo, Port Said and Alexandria. Egypt is called the ‘gift of the river Nile’.
