Bhaskar Burman: Bhaskar Burman ruled Kamrup for a long time. It is noteworthy that Bhaskar Burman was unmarried and was known as Kumara Raja. His reign is a glorious chapter in the history of Kamrup. A new era began with the ascension of Bhaskar Varman to the throne in 594 AD. This period was called the Bhaskarabda or Kimrupi Chan.

According to legend, Duryodhana married Bhanumati, daughter of Bhagadatta. Bhagadatta dug the long pond in Guwahati during the reign of his daughter Bhanumati.

Religion of Ancient Kamarupa : Shaivism was practiced in Kamarupa since ancient times. The Kalika Purana mentions fifteen centers of Shaiva worship in ancient Kamarupa. Ancient Kamrup was one of the major centers of Shakti worship. Traditionally, Kamrup was recognized as the main center of Shakti Puja. The temple of Goddess Kamakhya was the first of these. Like Shiva and Shakti, Vishnu was worshiped in ancient Kamarupa. Buddhism also spread in ancient Kamarupa.

The army of Kamrup was well equipped with cavalry, navy, elephant and infantry. Huyen Chang's account mentions that Bhaskar Burman had a huge navy of thirty thousand ships and a powerful army of twenty thousand elephants. Several temples were built during the reign of Bhaskar Varman. At that time, the state of Kamrup was established as one of the centers of education.
