Lesson-2 (Part II)

 WIND

The poem teaches us to become strong in both mind and body. The wind represents the difficulties, challenges and hardships of life. It destroys weak things, but it cannot easily defeat those who are strong and determined.

Answer: The poet says that the wind god winnows weak and fragile things. It breaks weak houses, doors, wood, bodies, lives and hearts, just as chaff is separated from grain during winnowing.

6. How does the poet speak to the wind – in anger or with humour? You meet also have seen or heard of the wind? “crumbling lives”. What is your response to this? Is it some as the poets?

Answer: The poet speaks to the wind with a mixture of humour and complaint rather than with serious anger. He knows that the wind destroys weak things, but instead of simply blaming it, he advises people to make themselves strong.

My response is similar to the poet’s. Difficulties may break those who are weak or unprepared, but they can also make strong people even stronger. Therefore, we should face challenges with courage and determination rather than fear them.

How does we make wind our friend?

Answer: We can make the wind our friend by making ourselves strong. The poet advises us to build strong houses, fix the doors firmly and strengthen our bodies and hearts.

In a deeper sense, the wind represents the difficulties of life. If we are mentally and physically strong, we can face hardships bravely and turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
