The Rainbow
1. Complete the following sentences by reading the poem “The Rainbow”কবিতাটো পঢ়ি তলত দিয়া কথা শাৰী সম্পূৰ্ণ কৰা।
(a) Boats sail on the rivers,
(b) And Ships sail on the seas.
(c) But clouds that sail across the sky.
(d) Boats and ships are pretty, but clouds are prettier
(e) The ‘bow’ in the poem is the bridges.
(ক) তারা নদীতে যাতায়াত করে,

(গ) কিন্তু আকাশ পার হওয়ার পরামর্শ

4. Two summaries of the poem are given below. which one do like more? Discuss your answer with the friend sitting next to you. Than share your thoughts with the rest of the class.
কবিতাটির দুটি সারসংক্ষেপ নিচে দেওয়া হল। তুমি কোনটা বেশি পছন্দ করো? তোমার পাশে বসা বন্ধুর সাথে তোমার উত্তর নিয়ে আলোচনা করো। তারপর ক্লাসের অন্যদের সামনে তোমার অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করো।
5. (a) As you Know, rhyming words that end with the same sound, such as sound-round . Here are some words from the poem ‘The Rainbow’ Work with your friend and write two words that rhyme with each of them:আপনি জানেন যে, অনুকরণমূলক শব্দের উচ্চারণ একই ধ্বনিতে শেষ হয়, যেমন শব্দ-বৃত্তাকার। রেইনওয়াও কবিতার কিছু শব্দ এখানে দেওয়া হল। তোমার বন্ধুর সাথে কাজ করে প্রত্যেকের জন্য দুটি করে অনুকরণীয় শব্দ লিখ।

8. Let’s learn some grammar:আসুন কিছু ব্যাকরণ শিখি:Read the poem ‘the Rainbow’ once again. Find words belonging to the following word classes and write them in the spaces below. One is done for you. You may fill the spaces with other words if you do not find an appropriate word in the poem.
‘রামধনু’ কবিতাটি আবার পড়ো। নিচের শব্দ শ্রেণীর অন্তর্গত শব্দগুলি খুঁজুন এবং নীচের ফাঁকা স্থানে লিখুন। তোমার জন্য একটা হয়ে গেল। যদি আপনি কবিতায় সঠিক শব্দ খুঁজে না পান, তাহলে আপনি অন্য শব্দ দিয়ে শূন্যস্থান পূরণ করতে পারেন।

11. Lets practice our word building skills. Make a few words with each of the letters from the word RAINBOW. First make a three letter word with R and then a four letter word, and so on. One is done for you:

Ans: We can see a rainbow in the rainy season in the sky.বর্ষাকালে আমরা আকাশে রংধনু দেখতে পাই। (iv) What colours do you see on a rainbow?রংধনুর মধ্যে আমরা কোন কোন রঙ দেখতে পাই?
Ans: I can see seven numbers of colour..আমি সাত নম্বরের রঙ দেখতে পাচ্ছি..
i) Red ( লাল )
ii) Orange (এগুলো কমলা রঙের। )
iii) Yellow ( হলুদ )
iv) Green (সবুজ )
v) Blue ( নীলা )
vi) Dense blue ( ঘন নীলা)
vii) Violet ( বেগুনি )
b) Write a few sentences on how you feel when you see a rainbow in the sky. You can take help from the box.

13. Look at the picture and picture and read the poem about a bird which lived on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.ছবিটা আর ছবিটা দেখো আর ভারত মহাসাগরের মরিশাস দ্বীপে বসবাসকারী একটি পাখির কবিতাটা পড়ো।

Dodos were large birds that could not fly. They are no longer on the earth now. They have become extinct.
দোদঅ এনেকোৱা এবিধ চৰাই আছিল যি উৰিব নোৱাৰিছিল। সিহঁত বেছি দিন এই পৃথিৱীত থাকিব নোৱাৰিলে। সিহঁত বিলুপ্ত হৈ গল।
In small groups, discuss why we should take care of nature’s gifts such as plants and animals.ছোট ছোট দলে আলোচনা করুন কেন আমাদের প্রকৃতির উপহার যেমন উদ্ভিদ এবং প্রাণীর যত্ন নেওয়া উচিত।
14. Look at the picture and read the following sentences:
ছবিটি দেখুন এবং এই বাক্যগুলি পড়ুন।
It is the white winged wood duck. The white winged wood duck lives in tropical forests and the wetlands of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and parts of south East Asia. The number of white Winged wood ducks is decreasing. Let’s not allow this duck to become extinct.
এটি সাদা পালক বিশিষ্ট একটি কাঠের হাঁস। এই সাদা ডানাওয়ালা কাঠের হাঁসটি আসাম এবং অরুণাচল প্রদেশের মতো উত্তর এশিয়ার গ্রীষ্মমন্ডলীয় বন এবং সৈকতে বাস করে। সাদা ডানাওয়ালা কাঠের রঙের এই হাঁসের সংখ্যা ক্রমশ কমছে। আর আমরা এই পাখিটিকে বিলুপ্ত হতে দেব না।
Discuss in groups what you would do to stop it from become extinct.
