Army Day
In India, 15th January is celebrated as Army Day every year. On this day in 1948, Lieutenant General K. M. Charyappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. On Army Day, tributes are paid to the army personnel who laid down their lives for the security of our country and the countrymen. The Army Day programme began with a wreath laying ceremony at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate in New Delhi. After that, parades and various parades show the technical prowess and success of the Indian Army. Various Sena medals are also presented on this day.
