15 September Engineer’s Day

In India, 15th September is celebrated as Engineer’s Day every year. This day is being celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Mokshagandam Visvesvaraya, a renowned educationist, architect and engineer of India. Viswasvaraiah, a key engineer of several notable dams, factories, bridges, etc. in India, was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955. From 1912 to 1919, he was the dewan of the then Kingdom of Mysore. Viswasvaraya’s notable achievements as an engineer and architect include The Krishna Raja Sagar Dam in Mysore and its adjoining Vrindavan Garden, Flood Control Project in Hyderabad, Bhadravati Iron and Steel Factory at Karnataka, Mysore Sandalwood Oil Factory etc. Engineer’s Day commemorates this great man and shows respect to all the engineers of the country. Because engineers have been playing a remarkable role in the progress of the country.
