Ghoomar became popular during the reign of Rajput kings in the Indian state of Rajasthan and is usually performed by women during gatherings. It is the dance form of Rajasthan which was first performed by a tribal group called Bhil tribe to worship Goddess Saraswati. It is the state dance of Rajasthan.
