World Dance Day
World Dance Day is celebrated every year on April 29. The International Council of Dance under UNESCO has been playing a major role in celebrating this day. This day, which has been celebrated since 1982, discusses various steps to be taken for the development of the dance tradition. The International Council of Dance has been making various demands for the passage of dance as an integral part of the culture. This includes earmarking special funds for dance in the annual budget, inclusion about dance in school curriculum, provision of world dance day in all educational institutions, etc. World Dance Day was celebrated on April 29 to coincide with the birthday of a renowned dancer named Jean-George Novoor.
